ALTAR SERVERS

As a parish community, we are pleased to have many devoted boys and girls in the privileged capacity of altar server.
Servers observe a regular schedule of assigned Mass duties
and are sometimes invited to serve at weekday liturgies, funerals and weddings.

Any boy or girl (grade 5 and above) who is interested in becoming an altar server
is encouraged to make an appointment with Father Rodrigues.

If you are unable to make your assignment,
please request a substitute online through Ministry Scheduler Pro.

Thank you for your service.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND

Our parish priests celebrate Mass monthly at
Cortland Place, Hebert Nursing Home, North Bay Manor and the Village at Waterman Lake. In addition, lay Eucharistic Ministers distribute Holy Communion in the nursing homes every Sunday following the 9:00 AM Mass.

Each month, the priests visit shut-ins for Communion calls. In addition, the priests also make regular visits to the hospitals. In the event that a family member is hospitalized and/or shut-in,
please notify one of the priests to attend to their spiritual needs.

If you are unable to make your assignment,
please request a substitute online through Ministry Scheduler Pro.

If there are any hosts left over,
leave your pyx next to the chapel tabernacle.
Do not consume the remaining hosts.

LECTORS
Lectors are scheduled for all weekend and holy day Masses.
Any parishioner interested in participating in this important ministry will be welcomed.

If you are unable to make your assignment,
please request a substitute online through Ministry Scheduler Pro

or call your partner to request he/she do all the readings.

If you anticipate a change in your availability, please advise by updating your personal profile on Ministry Scheduler Pro.

LECTOR NOTES

* Masses at which there is no permanent Deacon. One lector carries the Book of the Gospels in single-file procession immediately in front of the celebrant. Go directly to the altar and place the book on the corporal. Go directly to your front pew seat.

* The Book of the Gospels should be carried in a prominent manner in the processional to signify the role of the Gospel in the liturgical celebration.

*Pause at the end of the Old Testament first reading if you are remaining in the pulpit to read the response Psalm. Sing-and-read? Take your cue from the start of the music. Depart the pulpit after the final sung response. Second reader then moves to the pulpit.

*The second reader should close the Lectionary following the reading and place it on the under shelf, leaving the amboe clear for the celebrant to place the Book of the Gospels.

*The second reader should remain in the pew until the completion of the Profession of Faith..."and the life of the world to come. Amen". Then proceed to the pulpit for the Prayer of the Faithful. The "script" for all readings are set out in the Sacristy for your review/rehearsal/refresher prior to Mass. Please distinguish who is being remembered at the Mass (memorial) and others recently deceased or ill who will be mentioned .

* Please read slowly and distinctively. Move the Lectionary up to the top of the "vee" and try to lift your head and eyes when introducing the readings, at the conclusion and at the end of each intercession in the Prayer of the Faithful. Don't allow your voice to drop at "The Word of the Lord", "We Pray to the Lord", etc.

* Do not retrieve any books at the end of Mass. The Book of the Gospels and the Lectionary remain in the pulpit. Move to the foot of the Altar, bookend the celebrant and process out. You should take a Missalette with you to sing the recessional hymn.
