Fr. Sheehan is the son of Shirley Ann (James) and the late Austin R. Sheehan. He is a graduate of Rogers High School, was a pre-Theologian at the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence, and received a BS in Physical Education from URI. Fr. Sheehan received an honorable discharge from the US Marine Corps and was employed as a personal trainer and golf pro before entering the seminary. Fr. Sheehan studied for the priesthood at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland. His home parish is St. Joseph, Newport. Fr. Sheehan served as a summer seminarian at St. Paul Parish in Cranston, St. Philip Parish in Greenville and spent a summer at the Institute for Priestly Formation at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 26, 2004 by Bishop Robert E. Mulvee in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Providence and has served at All Saints Catholic Community in Woonsocket prior to being assigned to St. Philip. |
